Well, love is a many splendored thing, I know that. Some people say love stinks, love is blue or even that they’ve had enough of silly love songs. Maybe they lost that loving feeling and are looking for a new love; so they keep asking Is this love? but all they hear back is That ain’t love.
A collection of things I hear that make me think, “That would make a great opening line for a story!”
“He had crazy eyes and a Mexican wife.“
I’m going to start sharing the things I hear people say that make me think, “That would make a great opening line for a story!”
“You look more like yourself now than you did when I knew you.“
I dug this one out of the vault because it’s one of my favorites. I was reading the blog of my dear friend, Temper, who was the inspiration for the story and was hit with a sudden wave of nostalgia. So I figured I’d drag you all down memory lane with me. Enjoy!
“Why did you do all this for me?” he asked. “I don’t deserve it. I’ve never done anything for you.”
“You have been my friend,” replied Charlotte. “That in itself is a tremendous thing. I wove my webs for you because I liked you. After all, what’s a life, anyway? We’re born, we live a little while, we die… By helping you, perhaps I was trying to lift up my life a trifle. Heavens knows anyone’s life can stand a little of that.”
The Writing Challenge of Indeterminate Duration – Day 4
Write about something you know nothing about. Make it all up
I thought that today was going to be the first time I ventured outside the pages of my book for a post prompt, because every random page I landed on had suggestions that were serious or depressing . . . Continue reading →
A better topic for me at this point might have been what does it feel like to write about writer’s block when you have writer’s block? Maybe I’ll refer to this experience tomorrow and write about one of my favorite things: irony. Continue reading →
It’s the first day of the WCOID (Writing Challenge of Indeterminate Duration), and I’ve neither quit nor made up any excuses that would allow me to postpone the start date; so I’m feeling pretty proud of myself right about now. I’ve been away from Blogville for almost a year and a half; but not because I wanted to be. Part of the problem is that my blog was doing fairly well (at least by my standards), and I basically choked. Remember when you were a kid and you’d learned some new stunt (riding a bike, doing a cartwheel, riding a skateboard) and wanted to have an audience to show off for? As soon as there were eyes on you though, the only tricks you could do were “I think it’s broken” and “That’s gonna need stitches.” It was kind of like that, just with less blood and fewer x-rays.

Let me do a few tricks
Some old and then some new tricks
I’m very versatile …
Sweet fancy Moses! First the Liebster Award and now this! Does my awesomeness know no bounds? I’d like to thank the lovely and talented Amanda at Write in the Wrong Way for this award. She smokes, she drinks, she swears and she’s a soccer mom! If we could just do something about her heterosexuality and that pesky husband of hers
Many thanks to fixatedann at Randomly Speaking Unorthodoxly for nominating me for the Liebster Award. I must admit that at first I thought it was the Lieber Award and that my friend Steffen, aka The Lieber Boy, had decided to toss me a blogging bone. So imagine how thrilled I was to discover that this is an actual nomination Continue reading →
